It’s the things that inspire creativity in me like reworking furniture, remodeling a house, baking/cooking, and gardening.

French Inspired Decor

I went shopping a Hobby Lobby last week for burlap ribbon, what I came home with was something else…

It’s funny how inspiration can hit me. Yes, of course, I was at Hobby Lobby, inspiration central, but it wasn’t something I’d seen displayed that caught my eye, it was a bolt of fabric. It wasn’t even easy to find, it was layered in with a ton of other cotton prints just waiting to be dug out.

And that’s when it hit me…and everything got a little crazy and fuzzy from there. Continue reading

Project of the Day: Reuseable Party Signs

This is what happens when you need signs to direct people to say a graduation party in your backyard, and you don’t #1 – want to answer the front door 50 times, #2 – don’t want everyone trampling through the house, and #3 – want said guests to find their way to the backyard via the side gate that has a trailer blocking their line of sight into the party headquarters. Whew, that was a lot to say!

So I decided to create a few cute signs from leftover materials Continue reading

Project of the Day: Stair Remodel, Part 2

Yes, it’s finally here, the stair remodel conclusion! I know you’re all jumping up and down for joy because I’ve finally gotten my act together and taken the pictures needed so I could show you the final product…

So to refresh your memory, since the last post on the stair remodel was March 23rd, the hubby and I have been in a major remodel since January 2015. We added hardwood floors into the living and dining room and I managed to convince him to add wood to the stairs as well. He agreed, however, he later took my name in vain several times. It was a bear to get those angled steps right…a big olde nasty grizzly bear. Continue reading

Project of the Day: The Cody Shrine

I’m a little behind in my posts, I know, but I have been busy converting my blogs and website into one sleek new package thus making it easier for fans to find me. You know, everything in one location…

So since I’m a little behind in posting, I thought I’d show you the Cody Shrine from my youngest graduation party…at the end of May. Continue reading

Project of the Day – Living Room Makeover, Part 5

It’s been slow in the making, but it’s finally coming all together! I can officially say that the living room makeover is done! Now to finish up the dining room, the stairs and…yeah, the list doesn’t seem to end over here.Let me recap what’s taken place. I went from a bland living room space to something that’s grand! It wasn’t overnight either, this project, along with others, have been going on since January. It’s called having your youngest son graduate from high school and you realize that over the last five years you’ve let things slip. Yeah, that about sums it up.

Anyway, here’s the before: plain olde living room that lacked any kind of true character or luster. It had carpet that had seen better days, and felt cramped and dated.

Before:

Project of the Day – Living Room Makeover, Part 4

It’s getting closer, it really is. This past week was a bit crazy with the hardwoods refinishing starting, and being forced out of the hour for 3 days, but the finished floors are worth it!

Just take a look for yourself:

I can’t believe how rich and warm they look. The hubby was a little scared with my color choice, but as always I told him to trust the designer, and he did. He’s quite happy with it, and now it’s on to putting the trim up and moving the furniture back in. Can’t wait to show you the final pictures when it’s completely done. It won’t be long now!
Toodles!
